A Place, a Story

Le Parc de Modenheim has been a venue for gatherings and celebrations since its very beginnings.

At the edge of the Hardt forest, near the village of Modenheim, a renowned chemist from Mulhouse—listed in the records of the prestigious Société Industrielle de Mulhouse (SIM)—dreamed of building this residence as a hunting lodge. He envisioned welcoming guests by horse-drawn carriage on weekends to hunt and celebrate together.

Designed to fulfill his every wish, the building stands out in the region for its unique and timeless charm. For over 150 years, those fortunate enough to live here have respected and preserved its architectural integrity—a legacy that remains intact to this day.

The Villa Bon Pasteur survived two world wars before becoming the property of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd of Angers. Along with the neighboring buildings and park, it formed a unified estate known as “Le Bon Pasteur de Modenheim.”

Over time, the religious community sold the property to the municipality of Illzach-Modenheim. The estate was then divided into several parts—one of which is the villa you see today, now available for private rental.

From its origins, this house has always welcomed guests. Today, it continues to fulfill its original purpose: offering a space where unforgettable moments of joy, laughter, and togetherness come to life.
